Are we kindred spirits?

Maybe. I am seeking a community of folks who love fashion as a way to express themselves and have fun. Clothing can add a little magic into our everyday lives. When possible, I try to support slow fashion and smaller businesses when I see something I like that I can afford to buy. If I can’t find what I’m looking for at a price my budget allows, and it’s knitwear I’m coveting, I seize the opportunity to be creative and make it myself. Sometimes I see something I like and can afford, but the colors are too boring, so I make it myself.

Am I an expert in fashion? No. But I am 51 years old and I have spent WAY TOO MUCH TIME shopping in my lifetime. I know what I like and what I don’t like and that my style will appeal to some and not others, though I do think I have good taste. I’m also pretty sure that even if I could afford a certain $3000 purse or a $950 coat, I wouldn’t buy it, just because it wouldn’t feel right with all that’s going on in the world right now.

I have other interests that I may write about from time to time. I’m a voracious reader, I watch a LOT of television when I’m knitting (especially Britbox), and I am interested in current events and politics because even though it often causes me anxiety and heartache, ignorance is not bliss. I believe strongly in equality, that love is love, and that women’s rights are human rights. I believe that fashion is political. If you don’t share these beliefs, then I will annoy you so don’t bother subscribing; and also — what the HELL is wrong with you? If you do share these beliefs: Hello, friend.

I’m a Gen Xer full time working mom of 3 with eclectic tastes, opinions on everything, and I’m constantly seeking out off-the-beaten-path fashion inspiration. I also write about knitting, life, or whatever I'm hyper-fixated on that week.
